We love to use our Hemp protein powder for pretty much everything.
How could you not when it contains complete protein, packed full of vitamins and minerals as well as high in fibre.
We also love Quinoa in our house. .Another a plant source that contains all 9 essential amino acids.
Which is why we cant get enough of these protein packed "meatballs". They are great for salads or pasta dishes.
Quinoa and Hemp "meatballs"
Ingredients
2 cups of cooked Quinoa
1 cup of steamed potato
1.5 cups of hemp protein flour
1 cup of spelt flour (or flour of your choosing)
1/2 cup nutritional yeast
1.5 cup of chopped mushrooms
1 tsp olive oil
1 onion diced
3 cloves of garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
For Rolling
Hulled hemp seeds
Semolina or breadcrumbs
Method:
Once you have cooked your quinoa and potato put them both into a food processor and blend until smooth.
In a pan fry the onion, garlic and mushrooms with the olive oil. Once the mushroom mix is golden put that into the food processor mix and blend until its smooth and combined well.
Next start slowly adding the hemp protein powder. Once that is combined you can then add in the nutritional yeast and spelt flour slowly. Make sure the mix is well combined. It should now look like a soft dough.
Now its time to make the meatballs.
Get a dollop of the mix and roll it around in your hemp seed and semolina mix. Roll into small balls once they are entirely coated so they aren't sticky.
Then cook them how ever you like. . Fry or bake them.
And there you go. . High protein plant based "meatballs".
Perfection!!
